Reserve Hose Co. proudly protects approximately 15,000 people living in an area of about 11 square miles in the town of West Seneca, NY. We operate out of 2 stations, protecting a primarily residential area. Our fire department is a public department whose members are 100% volunteer.
The mission and purpose of the Reserve Hose Fire Company is to prevent loss of life and to control or reduce the loss of property by applying all of our professional knowledge and resources. We will accomplish this mission through fire suppression, rescue, first aid, code enforcement, public education, fire investigation and professional development training. It is our number one priority to provide the best fire and medical services to all the citizens and visitors of our community.
Interior firefighting and search/rescue are two of the most dangerous tasks for any firefighter. What appear to be controlled fire scenes can quickly turn to a life safety situation. Our crews must always be vigilant, aware of their surroundings and be prepared for changing conditions in an active fire. With the help of the Erie County Fire Survival Trailer and county instructors, our crews were given challenging scenarios and tips on what tasks may be required to get yourself out of a potentially deadly environment. A terrific evening of training that increased our team's confidence and knowledge on how to navigate these possibly life saving routines.
After a long and cold winter, our equipment took quite a beating. This includes both our fire stations. For one of our non-drill evenings this month, our Reserve Hose firefighters took the time to freshen up our Berg Road station. Everything is removed from the truck room and the floor is given a good sweep out. Then the team scrubs down the floor and walls. Our firefighters take great pride in ensuring our equipment and stations are prepared and in top condition to serve the West Seneca community.
Our Reserve Hose President and Vice President organized a time honored tradition with the Fire Company and invited all our members' mothers, grandmothers, spouses, significant others and families for a Mothers Day breakfast at our hall. These incredible women are such amazing supporters of our firefighters and this event is a small thank you to them for everything they have done and continue to do for our members. Everyone enjoyed a terrific meal and it was a wonderful time to relax and enjoy each other's company.
