Reserve 5 is the department's Heavy Rescue. It was built by Saulsbury Fire Apparatus on a Ford Louisville chassis and was delivered in 1985.  The truck features a walk through 18 foot box and responds to all fires, motor vehicle accidents (MVA) and mutual aid requests. Reserve 5 is equipped with an Amkus hydraulic extrication system consisting of cutters, spreaders and rams. The rig is also equipped with a thermal imaging camera, extra self contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), high intensity lighting, a generator, low pressure air bags, various saws, a 5 ton winch and numerous other pieces of equipment for use in almost any rescue situation. Reserve 5 is powered by a Caterpillar diesel engine and is also used as our F.A.S.T. response vehicle.
