Reserve engines 1 and 2 are
nearly identical class "A" pumpers built by the FMC Corporation.
Both were built on Spartan Gladiator enclosed chassis with seating for up
to 10
firefighters. Both are equipped with a Hale single stage 1,500 gallon per
minute (GPM) pump and each has a 750 gallon tank. Each truck is equipped
with 1,000 feet of 5" large diameter hose (LDH) supply line. Each
pumper is also equipped with 2 pre-connected 1 3/4" attack lines that
are 250 feet in length. Both pumpers have a pre-connected 2 1/2"
attack line and a booster line. Each engine has a full compliment of hand
tools, ladders and related equipment and both are powered by Cummins
turbo-charged diesel engines.
Although ordered together,
Reserve 1 and 2 were delivered separately over 2 different budget years.
Engine 2 is quartered at the Eat and West Road Station and was delivered
in October, 1989. It replaced a 1963 pumper built by Young Fire Apparatus
on a ford "C" chassis. Engine 2 is "first out" (meaning it responds as the first piece of
apparatus from their respective stations) at single company fire responses
such as car and brush fires, as well as multiple company responses with
the call location within our Fire District.
